Our Month In Photos – October 31st 2016

It's been rainy, soggy, muddy and cold around here with a couple days of sunshine thrown in. Jess has been busy at work, and the girls and I have busy with homeschooling and keeping up with music lessons, homeschool co-op, tutoring classes, 4-H and all the distractions that come with having lots of animals. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods and we hope you enjoy a few photos from the last couple of months. Jo got a kitten that has been entertaining us all as you will ... continue reading...

Applesauce Raisin Quick Bread

Applesauce Raisin Quick Bread

I just shared how to make applesauce in the slow cooker, so I thought this recipe should come next. It just might be my favorite way to use applesauce! It doesn't have any added sugar so I don't feel guilty about eating 4 pieces of it before 10 a.m.! ;) Contrary to the picture, this recipe will make 1 loaf of bread. I made two double batches the other day because I had tons of applesauce and the loaves freeze well. Start by putting all your dry ingredients in a big bowl. You need ... continue reading...

Our Week In Photos – September 11th 2016

This is three weeks of photos and I wish I had taken more! It was a whirl wind of busyness with the fair and starting school! The garden is exploding and I haven't had time to deal with it properly, and because we've been gone so much the fridge is overflowing with eggs and goat milk! I'm hoping next week finds us easing into our school year routine and having somewhat of a "schedule" again. I never get tired of fresh CLEAN eggs! The girls hard work paid off with their broiler ... continue reading...

City Cousin Comes To Visit

City Cousin Comes To Visit

Last week Jess's cousin Janine came and stayed with us for a few days. In the fifteen years that Jess and I have been married Janine has never been here to visit. The girls had met her, but they were to young to remember. This was so fun for them to meet their "new" cousin, and we all enjoyed her company while she was here! Janine lives in Seattle where she was raised, and so really hasn't experienced the rural life very much. She volunteered to write a guest post this week sharing her ... continue reading...
