Almond Roca Cookie Bars

Almond Roca Cookie Bars

I had another post all ready to go today, but then I made these Almond Roca Cookie Bars yesterday and I really wanted to share the recipe with you before Easter weekend; just in case you want to make them for your Easter celebration. :) They are so delicious and simple to make. I was lucky enough to inherit my grandmas recipe collection and found this recipe as I was thumbing through the thousands of recipe cards and newspaper clippings. "Almond Roca" caught my eye. I had never heard ... continue reading...

Breakfast Casserole With A Tater Tot Crust

Breakfast Casserole With A Tater Tot Crust

I have a little confession to make...... I adore tater tots. Ketchup with tater tots, ranch with tater tots, ground beef casserole with tater tots (I should really share that recipe with you), cheese burgers with tater tots, ice cream with tater tots, (almost) everything tastes better with tater tots (in my humble opinion)! To my credit though, I have cut back on my tater tot consumption over the years, in fact in my late teens when I was free from my parents and "living the good life" my diet ... continue reading...

Our Week In Photos – March 18th 2016

A week of rain and mud finally ended with BEAUTIFUL sunshine! Here's a few pics of our week, not necessarily in order... The trees are starting to wake up. This girl never misses an opportunity to swing (even if it's "on the job!"). Jess worked on projects in the shop when he couldn't work because of all the mud. This is a frame for a shop table that he made for my dad. Playing in the rain + a dust bath = muddy chickens... Have all the fun you want ladies as long as you keep ... continue reading...

Deep Mulch Gardening - The Good AND The Bad

Deep Mulch Gardening – The Good AND The Bad

Spring is here! The days are getting longer and the weather teases us outdoors with warm, calm days. It happens every year. "I'm going to get a head start on the garden this year!" I tell myself. There is plenty of cleanup to be done, and the overgrown raspberries should be thinned, weeded, and mulched. The irrigation lines need to be rolled up, and the fence will have to be extended up so my new laying hens won't fly over... Yup! Much to do! But like every year our ambitions are ... continue reading...

How To Cook Bacon In The Oven

How To Cook Bacon In The Oven

Oven roasted bacon is the best! The bacon cooks evenly and clean up is super easy. But the best part is you don't have to stand over a sizzling pan while splatters of hot grease hit you in the face and ruin your good shirt. :D All you need is a baking sheet, parchment paper and BACON. First place as much bacon as you can possibly fit onto a parchment lined baking sheet....well maybe just as much as you need. But I put as much as I can fit...cause I can never have too much ... continue reading...
