Our Week In Photos – March 18th 2016

A week of rain and mud finally ended with BEAUTIFUL sunshine! Here's a few pics of our week, not necessarily in order... The trees are starting to wake up. This girl never misses an opportunity to swing (even if it's "on the job!"). Jess worked on projects in the shop when he couldn't work because of all the mud. This is a frame for a shop table that he made for my dad. Playing in the rain + a dust bath = muddy chickens... Have all the fun you want ladies as long as you keep ... continue reading...

Deep Mulch Gardening - The Good AND The Bad

Deep Mulch Gardening – The Good AND The Bad

Spring is here! The days are getting longer and the weather teases us outdoors with warm, calm days. It happens every year. "I'm going to get a head start on the garden this year!" I tell myself. There is plenty of cleanup to be done, and the overgrown raspberries should be thinned, weeded, and mulched. The irrigation lines need to be rolled up, and the fence will have to be extended up so my new laying hens won't fly over... Yup! Much to do! But like every year our ambitions are ... continue reading...

How To Cook Bacon In The Oven

How To Cook Bacon In The Oven

But I put as much as I can fit...cause I can never have too much ... continue reading...

Found about 30 pounds of potatoes in the potato bin while I was cleaning the garden! These girls are such good help! They have both decided when they have their own houses they do NOT want a wood stove...hahaha! This guy loves to go to the woods too. We shouldn't have let him chew on everything in sight though. He puked all over the car on the ... continue reading...

Chemical Free Way To Remove Hard Water Stains From Your Toilet

First of all, I'm so sorry! I thought I would apologize in advance for showing you pictures of our toilet: I know,... GROSS! RIGHT? We have really good well water, but those mineral stains insist on building up over time. I tried so many times in so many different ways, with so many different products to get rid of these stains that I was about to add "new toilets" to the budget. Then I read something about using a pumice stone to clean the toilet. We were a little worried ... continue reading...
