I love that we live where there are 4 very distinct seasons. I don’t think I have a favorite….but. Late spring/early summer is so FULL of fun stuff. We start to see the fruit of our labor in the garden, baby chicks and ducklings arrive, baby goats are born and the days are warm, but not too warm!
Fresh out of the oven. Rosie had twin girls on June 17th.
This is her first time being a mama and she couldn’t be doing a better job!
They are a Lamancha/Boer cross breed. Lamancha’s have very tiny ears and Boer goats have long floppy ears. We got one of each:
We have 31 Ranger babies in the brooder and 30 Cornish Cross Coming tomorrow. These are Josie’s 4-H project.
The chickens keep hiding their eggs. It usually takes me a day or two, but I always find them.
The garden is coming along nicely now that the weather has warmed up a bit.
Kicked the canning season off with some strawberry rhubarb jam! Raspberry jam is next on the list.
One of the best ways to use up fresh eggs and some garden produce is a quiche!
Mary’s goslings are growing like crazy! Basil and Sage will also be going to the fair in August.
With spring comes barn kittens, this is the only one we’ve seen this year, so far.
Hope you enjoyed this months photos.
Have a great July!
If you need us…..
we’ll be in the barn.

Thank you for the recipes and the lovely pictures of all the babies! Have you ever had any problems with coyotes? We live in Tennessee, and up until about seven years ago, we never had. Then we could hear the howling in early evening at dusk. All small wild creatures that we used to see are gone, except skunks, possums, and raccoons The local newspaper is full of ads for missing pets like small dogs and cats. The coyotes hunt an area until game gets sparse. Then they move on to another area. I had always thought they would stay west of the Mississippi, but somehow, they got across it!

Hi Brenda!
Yes, we have always had problems with coyotes. They show up at least once a day, either one during the day or a group of them in the evening or during the night. Our big dogs do a good job of keeping them away and we always lock everyone(chickens, ducks, geese, goats) up tight in the evening. Our little dog is not allowed out of our fenced yard by himself. It sounds like your area has a big problem. They are smart, sly hunters and in packs they are even dangerous to our big dogs! I would rather have them though, than the cougars that come around sometimes!!

Thanks for sharing your sweet photos! Thanks for also posting a link from this site to your Etsy store. That’s cool you have Pinterest and Instragram feeds as well. Maybe you have some of your crafts for sale posted there. Big hugs, Janine

RE: Craft Links
I discovered from this link that the Hood River Market is open Saturdays in the Summer: http://www.gorgegrown.com/hoodriverabout/ From their website it looks like a charming and fun weekly farmer, gourmet product, and craft market drawing from all communities in Northern Oregon and Southern Washington. Fun!
Somehow my browser isn’t displaying any link to your Etsy shop or other means to buy your charming handmade signs. I don’t use Instragram or Pinterest but maybe more photos are on your pages there. I love all the beautiful stories and content here on your blog! Amazing content! Thanks.
Our family loves the hand painted signs we got from you last year. They draw many compliments.
Happy summer to you all!
Sunflowers and baby goats,
Janine
