We are starting to harvest a few things from our garden just now, such as rhubarb, peas and spinach.  My raspberries, blueberries and blackberries aren’t quite ready, but I’m sure those of you in warmer climates have berries flooding in! (Lucky!…)

I found some blueberries left from last year buried in the back of the freezer (YAY!), and so decided to share this recipe.  I’m sure other berries will work just as well!

This sauce is wonderful on pancakes, waffles, ice cream, cheese cake, pound cake, or you could just stand at the stove and eat it with a spoon.

You just need four ingredients to make this super yummy sauce!

No Sugar Added Blueberry Sauce

Ingredients
  • 2 cups frozen blueberries
  • ⅓ cup 100% maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons arrow root powder or corn starch
Instructions
  1. Place the blueberries, maple syrup, lemon juice, and 2 teaspoons of arrow root powder in a small sauce pan on medium low heat.
  2. Stir often until it starts to bubble up a little. (don't let it come to a hard boil)
  3. Then stir continually until it reaches the right consistency. You may need to add another ½ to 1 teaspoon of arrow root powder if you have extra juicy berries.
  4. Once you get to the consistency you are looking for, remove the pan from the heat.
  5. Serve hot or cold.
